Legal professionals will now be able to automatically record the time they spend working in the legal AI platform Legora, as the result of a new partnership with the AI timekeeping platform Laurel.

With this partnership, the companies announced today, Laurel will turn every task a lawyer completes in Legora into a time entry, with the client, the matter, and a description of the work ready for the lawyer to review.

Automated timekeeping is the first phase of the partnership. Later, the companies plan to jointly develop ways to measure how lawyers are using Legora and the value that AI-powered legal work brings to a law firm.

In the first phase, lawyers at law firms that are customers of both platforms will get time entries automatically created from the work done in Legora. Each task will be recorded to the correct client matter with a descriptive narrative, such as, “Analyze indemnification provisions in draft asset purchase agreement.”

The benefit of this, the companies say, is that lawyers spend less unbillable time reconstructing what they did in Legora and submitting their time entries.

It also ensures that there are fewer gaps in lawyers’ time records and that all work performed in any application, including Legora, is saved to the same record.

In the second phase of their partnership, the companies plan to share data in order to develop ways to measure the use and value of Legora to law firms.…
